Stereoscopy is a technique for capturing three-dimensional images, adding depth to a flat image. It's work with slightly two different angles of the same object or scene. It is also known as 3D- Photography. This unique concept is used in so many fields, like: space exploration, VR games, movies, entertainment, medical uses, and so on. It's invented by Sir Charles Wheatstone in 1838.

Stereoscope is a device for viewing and enjoying Stereograms/3D-Photos. It has vintage heavy versions and modern lite versions like Fennec Stereoscope. Have a look at these vintage versions.

Stereopsis is the ability to see the world in three dimensions (length, width, and depth) through Binocular vision. It is a key component of depth perception, which is the ability to determine the relative positions of objects in space. which then allows a person to judge where an object is relative to him or her. This stereopsis effect is essential for many everyday actions, including driving, threading a needle, descending stairs, and so on. The brain estimates the depth of things based on tiny variations between pictures. and this brain effect is called Stereopsis

Any 3D Stereoscopic image is called a Stereograph or Stereogram. There are some creative types of stereoscopic photos exists.

Like: SBS, Anaglyph, Depthmap Conversion, Wigglegram, Textured Stereograms, & so on.

ANAGLYPH

-----------------

Anaglyph is a stereo pair of two color channels of Red & Cyan. It can be viewed with anaglyph glasses.

SBS

Side-By-Side images are two stereo pairs with slightly diffrent angles viewed with stereoscope.

DEPTHMAP CON-

Depthmap conversion is a technique of creating stereo photo by using depth map extracted from flat image

Hold your Fennec Stereoscope to your eyes, and look through them at the stereo photos on your phone. Slowly move the phone closer or farther until the images start to merge into a single, clear 3D image.

Install & open Fennec Stereo app, Frame your subject & take a first Left eye photo, then move slightly to the right and take second Right eye photo. App automatically aligns both images. Capturing this way is called Cha-Cha method.

Stereoscopy day is celebrated annually on June 21st. This day commemorates the anniversary of Sir Charles Wheatstone's presentation of his reflecting stereoscope to the royal society of London in 1838. Where he demonstrated his theory of binocular vision. It's an international celebration of Stereoscopic 3D.

The distance between the left and right camera is called the ‘interaxial’. By adjusting the interaxial distance between cameras, we are able to dynamically increase and decrease the depth in a scene. The wider the interaxial, the more depth we capture.
